The U-SMPS continuously measures high resolution particle distributions of sub-micrometer aerosols. It is commonly used in health related research such as inhalation and exposure studies or workplace evaluations, where both the concentration and size of ultrafine and nanoparticles is important.

The U-SMPS combines an aerosol size classifier or DEMC (ISO 15900), also known as a DMA, and a particle counter, either a CPC condensation particle counter or an electrometer.

The Palas U-SMPS uses the methodology and algorithms supplied by the renouned Prof. Wiedensohler of IfT (Leipzig) to produce a size distribution from the SMPS data.DNP Size Distribution using U-SMPS

Available in four configurations, the U-SMPC range offered using Palas instrumentation combines the UF-CPC 100 / 200 / or Charme electromoeter with the DEMC 1000 / DEMC 2000 to produce a range of instruments covering the 3nm to 1200nm measurement range.

Control and monitoring of the instrument is made through the two touch panel displays. Generally used as stand-alone instruments, the U-SMPS networking and remote control capability is still impressive supporting a standardised interface for USB, WLAN, Ethernet, RS 232 / 485.
