DescriptionAGF Series 2.0

The AGF range is a nebuliser based precision generator which uses an adjustable air flow through a binary nozzle to generate liquid particles from a solution and a cyclone to separate out larger particles so producing a high concentration of particles in a well defined size range. The AGF range is available in six models with two particle size cutoff variants.

The AGF 2.0 range produces an average number diameter (produced using DEHS) at 0.25µm with a maximum diameter at 2.0µm and produces a maximum mass concentration of 4 g/h.

The AGF 10.0 range produces an average number diameter (produced using DEHS) at 0.5µm with a maximum diameter at 10.0µm and produces a maximum mass concentration of 20 g/h.

The requirement for high mass concentrations of small particles can be better understood by considering the testing of an ULPA grade filter of the quality U17, which has a defined efficiency requirement of 99,999995% at MPPS (Most Penetrative Particle Size), which generally lies approximately between 50 nm and 0.4 µm.

In order to test a filter of U17 quality, over 100,000,000 particles per minute must be fed in the aerosol challenge to the filter to ensure that a measureable level of 10 particles per minute is obtained after the filter.

If larger droplets are present then artificially high challenge mass flows are indicated and the filters are tested to be better than they really are, due to this droplet loading. The use of aerosol of less than 2µm also improves sampling efficiencies, to the extent that an exact isokinetic sampling is not required.

The AGF range has been used successfully for filter testing applications all over the world for more than 25 years. Typical liquids which can be nebulised with a dosing capacity of > 24 hrs per reservoir fill include:

  • DEHS
  • DOP
  • Emery 3004
  • paraffin oil
  • other non-resinous oils

The AGF 2.0 range is available in 4 models: AGF 2.0 is the standard generator and operates at just above atmospheric pressure with an air supply required. AGF 2.0D is housed in a pressurisable body capable of operating at up to 10 bar. AGF 2.0iP contains its own pump to drive the air flow and the AGF 2.0B is a customised design to be used in bespoke test rigs.
